The End Is Nigh For V Festival?

Rumours concerning V Festival’s future have been circulating in the music industry since the 2017 edition.

Speculation is growing that promoters, Festival Republic, will abandon its Staffordshire leg and possibly totally re-brand the Chelmsford leg.

Festival Republic owners Live Nation acquired a majority and controlling stake in the festivals back in 2013. Other stakeholders have included MCD, SJM & Metropolis.

V Festival is yet to announce its 2018 dates whereas Festival Republic and Live Nation’s other festivals including Reading and Leeds, Latitude, Download, Wireless, Isle Of Wight, Electric Picnic have all confirmed details.

An announcement is rumoured to be coming next month.

UPDATE: V Festival To Rebrand

The event has been held at two parks simultaneously since 1996. First held at Victoria Park, Warrington and Hylands Park, Chelmsford. In 1997 the northern leg switch to Temple Newsam, Leeds and then Weston Park, Staffordshire in 1999.

V Festival originally started as an indie, rock festival later shifting focus to more commercial pop and dance acts. The event has been suffering poor sales for the past few years, especially at the Weston Park leg. Offers for this year’s festival could be found including buy one get one free tickets.
