The first wave of acts has been revealed for this year’s Boomtown Fair including The Libertines, Wu-Tang Clan, Underworld, Kano, Damian ‘Jr Gong’ Marley, Kelis, Orbital, Kool & The Gang, De La Soul, The Selecter, Fat White Family, Sugarhill Gang and more.
Boomtown will return to Matterley Estate in the South Downs National Park, nr. Winchester, over the 12th-16th August 2020. This is a theatrically led music festival with jaw dropping stage designs and story-lines you can immersive yourself in before, during and after the event. A diverse collection of acts have been announced delving further into 27 main stages throughout the 12 different districts that make up the cityscape of Boomtown’s multi-genre fiesta. These cover; folk, metal, world, roots, reggae, ska, neo soul, post punk, balkan, hip hop, jazz, two-tone, Americana, soundsystem culture, techno and house, DnB and more.
Matterley Estate near Winchester has been Boomtown’s home since 2011. As the festival has grown in capacity to 66,000, the importance of protecting the environment and reducing Boomtown’s carbon footprint and impact on Winchester and the surrounding area has become as major priority for the festival.
Boomtown has established itself as one of Europe’s most creative and inspiring events on the festival scene. With its diverse lineups, crazy story-lines and immersing festival-goers within the narrative. The festival becomes a temporary city for 5 days a year and festival-goers become citizens of this creative landscape that reflects the current global society.

Boomtown’s brand new site wide show will delve deep into the overarching storyline, as well as question where we are as a society and how, if possible, we can find a route to ‘New Beginnings’, perfectly circling back to the Chapter 12 title. Although the full details about how Boomtown will create this multi-stage spectacular will not be released until the festival, it is described as:
