Boomtown Fair‘s 1st full District line-up is here with OldTown announcing Gypsy, Balkan and Klezmer inspired acts.
Following BoomTown’s massive first major line-up release, the festival kicks off five weeks of artist announcements for the nine districts that make up the weird, wild and wonderful fabric of the festival city.
Boomtown has innovative city-like layout with each “district” having a unique feel, atmosphere and image, that is also reflected on the acts that play the district.
Acts announced for OldTown are Invisible Circus with the Battle Of Boomtown Show, Babylon Circus, Los De Abajo, Bohemian Betyars, Les Yeux D’La Tete, The Fat Bastard Gang, N.O.H.A., Projekt Rakija, The Destroyers, The Turbans, Mischief Brew, Days n Daze, The Baghdaddies, Veeblefetzer & the Manigolds, Balkan Hotsteppas, Mondo Cane,The Zen Hussies, Zorita, Transylvania, Ushti Baba, Tantz, The Great Malarkey, Wombo Orchestra, Gypsies of Bohemia, Hallouminati, Poor Old Dogs,Gypsy Unit, Mr Tea and the Minions, Gadje Scum, Manushka, Klonk!, and Biere De Luxe.
Away from the many artists gracing the OldTown main stage, the district comes alive in its magical, meandering back streets and rum-soaked taverns, where salty sea dogs and land lubbers alike revel to a soundtrack of sea shanties and pirate folktales. An unmissable theatrical spectacle comes courtesy of The Invisible Circus in their Battle for BoomTown show.
They join Madness, Damian Marley, Leftfield, Fat Freddy’s Drop, Parov Stelar, Levellers, Bad Manners, Fun Lovin’ Criminals, The Neville Staple Band, and the many more announced in the first wave of acts earlier this week.
OldTown is the city’s longest standing district filled with eccentric characters, more fully immersive venues than any other and the 90ft long Jolly Dodger pirate ship!
Every kind of musical genre is celebrated at BoomTown, from ska, folk, gypsy, reggae, world, punk, pirate and disco to electro-swing, jazz, blue-grass, bass, jungle and techno, all enjoyed in a spirit of unity and freedom. A huge amount of great music over 23 stages.
This year sees the introduction of “Sector 6”, a new area for the festival
