Within the district announcements, Boomtown has introduced a brand new area that brings together ancient spiritual ways mixed in with modern-day aspirations. Forgotten Valley is positioned in the very centre of the festival and celebrates traditional festival roots such as community, connection, health and healing and how to factor those into the fast-paced present-day lifestyle. It is a haven that consists of the perfect mix of workshops, crafts, music and the imaginative, magical adventures of Kidztown. Act include Baby Queens, Dila V & The Odd Beats, TheGirobabies,Rachael Dadd and duo Sound of the Sirens.
In the depths of the forest lie Boomtown’s renowned Forest Parties, presenting the best of Reggae, Dancehall and Dub to celebrate reggae roots and soundsystem culture. Nestled amongst the trees are two of Boomtown’s main stages, Hidden Woods and Tangled Roots. With their very own beach bar and treetop walks, these stages will transport you to the jungle. Acts include Zion Train, Jesse Royal, Jungle legend, Congo Natty, The Heatwave, Gardna will be returning with the enchanting voice of Hollie Cook and Sarah Lugo
AREA 404 encompasses one of Boomtown’s main stages, The Nucleus which will host live performances every night from the renowned, genre-defying composer and experimental fusion artist, Squarepusher. Underworld will take to the stage to celebrate their 40th year whilst Orbital’s live set will be sure to set pulses racing.
Elsewhere on the Nucleus you’ll find a huge array of names from across the scene. The Black Madonna will be making her Boomtown debut, alongside Brazil’s techno champion, ANNA. Helena Hauff will be bringing stripped down techno from Hamburg and experimental sounds from HAAI will be vibrating through AREA 404. Some weighty back to backs will take place including festival favourite, Eats Everything, with Monika Kruse and the return of Denis Sulta b2b Mella Dee. This year will also see sets from Maceo Plex, Detroit’s Moodymann, Objekt and a live set from Paranoid London.
The past few years the festival as had a focus on its environmental impact and the climate, this year Boomtown aims to plant one million trees. The 66,000 capacity event will use its platform to raise awareness and invite audience members, artists, crew and external partners to work together to restore nature by collectively planting over one million trees. This follows the success of the 2019 campaign that saw Boomtown collaborate with TreeSisters, and plant 71,725 trees to regenerate tropical rainforests around the world.
“As an organisation, we have grown exponentially and with an audience of over 66,0000 people, we want to inspire individuals to work together to create positive social and environmental change. We believe that reforestation is the most effective action we can take to tackle the climate and ecological crisis and we’re asking our community of passionate people from all over the world, to come together to help save our planet – and have fun whilst we’re doing it!.” – Lak Mitchell, Boomtown Fair Co-Founder
