Boomtown Fair Announces New District Metropolis and Oldtown

Boomtown Fair has already sold out of standard tickets for the much anticipated tenth chapter which sees headline acts Gorillaz, Die Antwoord and Limp Bizkit playing festival’s Hampshire home this summer. Taking place over 9-12th August, Boomtown is a theatrical event like no other; a playground with stages built with film-set like precision, brought to life by hundreds of walkabout actors populating the intricate streets.

This latest line up instalments come from new district, Metropolis and Oldtown. Rising from where the Chinatown skyline once dominated: introducing the flashing lights of the futuristic Metropolis with Pagoda Plaza as the new main stage for house lovers! See line up below.

While over at Oldtown you’ll find amaze of meandering streets harbouring a myriad of mysteries…Envelope yourself in a global knees up of folk punk and Balkan roots, street theatre, circus and a whole new dimension of immersive experiences from the Invisible Circus! See line up below.

Boomtown has established itself as one of Europe’s most creative and inspiring events on the festival scene. With its diverse lineups, crazy story-lines and immersing festival-goers within the narrative. The festival becomes a temporary city for 4 days a year, complete with nine districts sprawling across four areas and festival-goers become citizens of this creative landscape that reflects the current global society.

Metropolis is the technological hub of Boomtown’s make-believe world with micro venues such as festival favourites Dubtendo, mystery dispensary Little Pharma, fairground fun from BUMP Roller Disco  and Digital Fun Fair as well as the big bosses over at  Bang Hai Technologies populating the glowing streets.  LED lights flash subversive adverts to all wanderers, showcasing some of the fictional conglomerate of Bang Hai Industries’ high-tech advancements whilst preserving some of the nostalgic foundations of this upgraded area.

One of its oldest and most theatrical of districts of Boomtown history, Oldtown is packed full of artists, street circus performers, painters and poets all of whom have the spirit of Bohemia in their hearts.  This unprecedented line-up sits plays a pivotal role in providing the festival’s musical melting pot with an essential mix of Balkan fusion, roots, and folk punk.

Oldtown is key to our evolving storyline where the boundaries between fiction and reality are beautifully blurred, focussing on the animated, outrageous and engaging circus culture that is so close to our heart.

Exploding with intimate musical and theatrical venues citizens can explore, amongst many, long standing micro venue Grandma’s Living Room, the infamously twisted taxidermy of Rimski’s Yard, plus the everyday cosy vibes from People’s Front Room, and The Nobody’s Inn.  All of whom offer their own distinct take on cabaret and sideshows that take place within this narrative and theatrically filled world.

Previous announcements include Gorillaz as a UK exclusive, the festival released their diverse line up with the likes of Die Antwoord, Limp Bizkit, Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals, Jimmy Cliff, Amadou & Mariam, The Selecter, Sleaford Mods, Enter Shikari, Billy Bragg, Skatalites, Maribou State, Omar Souleyman and more set to make an appearance.

Tickets have sold out for Boomtown, however, there will be a limited amount of tickets available in a resale closer to the event.
